Stillness as Strength

We’re taught that strength looks like doing — pushing through, showing up, staying busy. But I’ve learned that sometimes, strength looks like stopping. It’s the quiet courage to pause, breathe, and let God move where our effort can’t.

Stillness has never come easy to me. I used to think slowing down meant falling behind — that rest was weakness in disguise. But over time, I’ve discovered that stillness is where renewal begins.

When we choose stillness, we make room for peace. We let gratitude settle where exhaustion once lived. We remember that we don’t have to hold everything together; we just have to hold on to faith.

Evening is the perfect time to practice that surrender — when the world softens, the candles flicker, and the noise begins to fade. In that quiet glow, I often find what I was too busy to hear during the day: that God’s grace is strongest when I am still.

Stillness doesn’t mean we’ve stopped moving forward — it means we’re allowing the Spirit to carry us in gentler ways.

If you’re weary, let yourself rest tonight.
Let the world turn without you for a while.
Light a candle, take a deep breath, and let gratitude fill the spaces where worry used to live.

Your stillness isn’t wasted. It’s where your strength is restored.
