I Didn’t Break. I Collapsed.

A few weeks ago, I couldn’t function.

Not tired.
Not overwhelmed.
Not “I need a nap.”

Frozen.

I would sit at my desk knowing exactly what needed to be done — emails, decisions, content, marketing, leadership — and my body just wouldn’t move.

My brain felt full.
My chest felt heavy.
Music made me cry for no reason.
Simple decisions felt impossible.

And the worst part?

I didn’t have time to fall apart.

I am the one people call when things fall apart.
At work.
At home.
In my community.
In business.
In life.

I am the strong one.

So when I hit a wall, it didn’t feel like burnout.

It felt like failure.

The Pressure No One Sees

On paper, everything looked fine.

I’m leading a team.
I’m building a house.
I’m building Fem Life Management.
I’m building community.
I’m building opportunity for other women.

But here’s what no one talks about:

Building something meaningful costs something.

Carrying responsibility costs something.
Being dependable costs something.
Being the “go-to” costs something.

And when you’re high-capacity, people assume you can just keep absorbing.

But the nervous system keeps score.

And mine said, “Enough.”

It Wasn’t Laziness. It Was Freeze.

I learned something during that week.

There’s something called functional freeze.

It’s what happens when your nervous system is so overloaded that it stops responding the way it used to.

You’re not unmotivated.
You’re not incapable.
You’re not weak.

You’re overloaded.

And your body pulls the emergency brake.

That’s what happened to me.

I wasn’t quitting.
I wasn’t giving up.
I wasn’t even done.

I was just maxed out.

The Part That Scared Me

What scared me wasn’t the exhaustion.

It was the thoughts.

“What if this isn’t working?”
“What if I overextended?”
“What if I’m financially drowning?”
“What if my effort doesn’t match my output?”
“What if I built something too big to carry?”

I started questioning everything.

Fem Life.
My leadership.
My decisions.
My capacity.

And that spiral is quiet.

No one sees it.
You still show up.
You still answer messages.
You still look fine.

But inside?
You feel like you’re cracking.

The Forced Pause

I lost cell service for a couple of days unexpectedly.

At first I was irritated.

Then I realized…

It was the first time in months I wasn’t reachable.
The first time I couldn’t fix something.
The first time I wasn’t absorbing other people’s needs.

And something in my body softened.

Not fixed.
Not cured.
Just softened.

I realized I have been preaching community while quietly carrying everything alone.

That realization humbled me.

The Truth

I built Fem Life because I miss when women had bench strength.

I miss when we didn’t have to pretend we were fine.
I miss when you could say, “Can you grab my kid?”
I miss when support wasn’t aesthetic — it was real.

But here’s the hard part:

Even the woman building the community needs the community.

Even the strong one needs to be held.
Even the leader can collapse.

I did not break.

But I collapsed.

And instead of hiding it, I’m telling you.

Because if you are the strong one…
If you are the dependable one…
If you are silently carrying too much…

You are not failing.

You are overloaded.

And maybe it’s time we stop pretending we don’t need each other.

That’s not weakness.

That’s human.

And that’s exactly why Fem Life exists.
